John T Turner October 20, 1920 - October 21, 2017; Stuart, FL - On Saturday, October 21, 2017, JohnThomas Turner passed peacefully in Stuart, FL following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family. John was a loving and devoted husband,father, grandfather, and brother.
John was born in Kennesaw, Georgia, raised on afarm, and graduated from Reinhardt College. He served in World War II as aradar operator stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He returned to marry his college sweetheart LouiseMedlin with whom he recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. John moved his family to Perry in 1959 towork at Robins Air Force Base and lived in Perry for 50 years. He was an active member of the Perry UnitedMethodist Church where he served as a dedicated usher for many years. He enjoyed all types of sports and washimself an avid and accomplished golfer. He served as President of the Perry Country Club. He was a member of theVeterans of Foreign War and the American Legion. After enjoying a longretirement in Perry he moved to Palm City, Florida to be near his daughter andother family.
John is survived by his wife Louise, children, Linda Turner Hughes (Randy), Palm City,FL ; John Turner, Jr (Belinda) Germantown, MD; brother, Howard, Fort Pierce, FL;grandchildren, Jason Hughes (Hilary), Jensen Beach, FL; Brandon Hughes(Michele), Ft Lauderdale, FL; John A. Turner (Marian), Raleigh, NC; JeffreyTurner, Washington DC; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,William Robert Turner and Beatrice Compton Turner and his sister Evelyn TurnerMcConnell.
Services will be held onWednesday October 25th at Georgia Funeral Care in Acworth, Georgia,followed by burial with military honors at Mountain View Park Cemetery inMarietta, Georgia, near his birthplace and boyhood home.
