Philip E. Kruzick, 85, passed away peacefully February 14, 2017, at his home in Atlanta. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, family member, and friend. Born April 11, 1931, in Taylorville, Illinois, son of Andrew & Veronica Kruzick, youngest of 9 children. Survived by wife of 55 years, Ruth (Broadbent) Kruzick; 3 children, Michele Ayers, Sharon Kruzick, and Michael Kruzick; 2 grandsons, Alex and Anderson Ayers; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Tobin and Mary Celine Sestak, of Springfield, Illinois.
Educated at Western Illinois University and Bradley University and served U.S. Marine Corps where he played football for all respected teams. He taught various courses and sports at Jerseyville High School in Illinois, and at St. John’s High School in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Employed 1960-1980 as a traveling sales representative for Norcross Greeting Cards, Burlington Industries in hosiery and bedding for 15 years throughout the Midwest and 9 southeastern states, Wrangler, and Roper Luggage. Earned top salesman of the year awards for several years.
From 1980 to 2016, he was a self-employed owner-operator of trucking for Roberts Express/FedEx Custom Critical, doing what he loved by traveling on the road in the U.S. and Canada, earning in 2004 Expediters of the Year Award with co-driver/wife, Ruth.
Visitation services: 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, at Georgia Funeral Care, 4671 South Main St., Acworth, Georgia. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 24th, with refreshments directly following in Social Hall, at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mt. Vernon Rd., Dunwoody, Georgia. Promptly at 12:30, procession will proceed by military escort to burial at Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mt. Carmel Church Ln., Canton, Georgia.
