Ada Smithmier, 83, of Cartersville, died January 1, 2019.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Saturday morning at Acworth United Methodist Church.  The visitation will be at 11:00 am followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm.  Ada was from Union Point, Georgia.  She was a graduate of Union Point High School. She lived in Marietta where she worked at The First National Bank on the square.  She also worked at Shamrock Knitting Mills in Smyrna and Bank South on Atlanta Road in Smyrna.  After the death of her first husband H.M. Blakely, she married Ray Smithmier, moved to Cartersville, where she retired.  Ada enjoyed traveling and going to the University of Georgia’s football games. She was a member of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband H.M. Blakely Jr., her second husband Ray Smithmier, her parents Coy Canup and Evie Cook Canup, her sister Beulah Canup Smith and her step mother Louise Brooks Canup.  Surviving are her children Nancy (Mark) Hopkins of Kennesaw and Steve (Lori) Blakely of Acworth; grandchildren, Seth (Jessica) Blakely, Zachary Blakely (Stacy Autry), Lindsay (Adam) Croft, Blakely (Jason) Ray, and Mackenzie (Drew) Whiten;  Great grandchildren, Grace Blakely, Madalynn Croft, Lilianna Croft, Lottie Ray, and Jameson Whiten; Siblings J.W. Canup (Kathleen), Lillie Piland, and Jan (Dwight) Mixon.
