Anne was born in Smyrna, GA on Groundhog's Day, February 2, 1933. She was the 6th of 7 children born to Major Thomas Humphrey and his wife, Bertha May Faucett. Anne's career as a secretary began when she worked in the secretarial pool at Wrigley (the chewing gum company). Anne continued to climb the secretarial ladder to the position of Executive Secretary. When she was in her 30's, she met and married Frank Wilson Helton, who was a professional portrait photographer. Frank's work entailed a lot of travel; Anne left her job to become Frank's assistant, enabling her to travel with him. After Frank died, Anne went back to work as an Executive Assistant at Prudential, where she worked until she retired. Once she retired, Anne became involved in her condo association, serving as treasurer and then president. She was also active in her church.
After suffering a major stroke in February 2016, Anne moved into The Gardens of Smyrna, a memory care facility. She died there on November 30th, 2017 at the age of 84. Anne's siblings, Louise, Harold, Ona, Dot, Tommy, and Farris, pre-deceased her. She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Mike Collins, Jane Collins, Bruce Humphrey, Kathryn Campbell, Donna Vieira, Debbie Humphrey, Chris Powers, Karl Humphrey, Keith Humphrey, and Chris Humphrey.
A memorial service for Anne will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Georgia Funeral Care & Cremation Services, 4761 South Main Street, Acworth, GA 30101, telephone 678-574-3016.
