Barbara Williams-Dehart

February 16, 1941 — October 31, 2021

Barbara Louise Williams-DeHart, age 80, passed away Sunday, October 31st, 2021 at home in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born February 16th, 1941 to Moses Williams and Vostile (Mason) Goodrich in Los Angeles, California. Barbara was the only child from Vostile and had a sister Patricia Williams from her father Moses.

Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, and friend living her life for her family. She was lucky enough to have not one but ten “YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT 10 HUSBANDS”. She and her family moved from California to Ohio in 2004 then after the passing of her daughter Michelle on September 16th, 2021 relocated to Georgia.

Barbara had an infectious smile with a heart of gold and everyone who knew her immediately loved her for her keen sense of humor. She was always the life of the party, loved to write poems and try new recipes. She was a spitfire and so deeply loved. She was fearless and would try any and everything at least once. She was the strongest person that we were blessed to know and love.

Barbara enjoyed traveling the world, fishing, bowling, listening to music including Jazz from artists such as Wes Montgomery and Grover Washington. She also liked action-packed movies and spending time with her cousin/sister/best friend/housewife  Emily Ware. To say that Barbara lived her life to the fullest would be an understatement.

In addition to her father Moses, and her mother Vostile, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Michelle Newton, sister Patricia Williams, great-grandson Thomas Frazier, Jr; and ten husbands.

She is survived by her children, Denise Newton, Carl Newton III, and Neena (Stephen) Rowe; loving grandchildren, Alexia Ford, Demetrius (Jynn) Thornton, Thomas "TJ" (Tiffany) Frazier, Desmond (Precious) Graham, Ryan Rowe, Carl Newton IV, Marion Newton, Tatiana Newton, and Chris Newton IV; great-grandchildren, Theresa (Justice), Jaylen, Kahlil, Titus, Teandre, Tiyana, Deniah, Taliah, Kristen, Dijenae, Christina and Desmond, Jr.; and a host of additional great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

“Barbara’s box may be gone but her spirit will live on FOREVER in each one of us” says, Emily.

If flowers grow in heaven!

Lord, pick a bunch for me.

Then place them in my mother and sister’s arms

and tell them they’re from me.

Tell them that I love and miss them

and when they turn to smile,

place a kiss upon their cheeks

and hold them for a while.

Will miss you both with all my heart.

Love, Denise

The Boss

In our Rose Garden of memories

We see you standing there,

An Angel in disguise

Who taught us how to care,

We long to hear your voice

for real not in our dreams,

We miss you so much these days

How empty our world now seems.

People say time heals all wounds

That someday the pain will subside:

but we can tell you

We think they must have lied.

The emptiness we feel now

Is strong and we are weak.

These days go by without you

So dreary and so bleak.

In our Rose Garden of memories

We know you'll always be,

for though you're gone

From this mortal world

In our hearts, you'll always be.

You will be deeply missed until we meet again!

Love, Lexy
