Betty Ann Guard

July 29, 1933 — January 4, 2022

Betty Ann Gosa Chastain Guard, age 88, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022.  Born on July 29, 1933 she is the daughter of the late Mattie and Sam Gosa of Griffin, GA.  She is preceded in death by her husbands Ed Chastain and David Guard, Sr., daughter Marsha Chastain New, and step-daughter Robin Guard Armburst.   Betty is survived by her sons Eddie (Charlotte) Chastain of Acworth, Tony (Ellen) Chastain of Ball Ground, and David Guard, Jr. of Parker, Colorado, and step-children Debbie Umphrey, Stanley Guard, and Sandy Patton.  Betty was a proud grandmother of four grandchildren – Spencer (Lisa), Michael (Aimee), Anna (Steven), Sean and five great grandchildren (Joshua, William, Eric, Andrew, and Elora), and many nieces and nephews.

Over the years Betty worked at Southern Bell, Cobb County Tag Department, and Winn Dixie.  She was an avid reader, loved fishing, and was talented with all needlework whether it be knitting, crocheting, or sewing.  Countless family members and friends have been gifted with beautiful handmade gifts over the years.  Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with family and friends, and she was loved by all.

A memorial service for Betty will be held on Sunday, January 9th with visitation at 2:00 followed by a service at 3:00 at Georgia Funeral Care and Cremation Services in Acworth.  We rejoice in a life well lived and will forever keep Betty in our hearts and in our minds.
