Bobby H. Chastain, a native of Cartersville, died on April 19, 2025, age 87, following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 23, 1937, the youngest of seven children of Homer Leslie Chastain and Lula Bell Chastain.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Gina Siniard Chastain, son Tony Chastain of Cartersville, daughter Tracy Chastain of Acworth, and grandchildren Ivey, Patrick, and Stephen. He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by his son Ted Chastain, and his siblings: Evelyn Dabbs, Mary Lou Brown, Mamie Mitchell, Minnie Chastain, J.W. Chastain, and Tommy Chastain.
Bobby served his country in the Air National Guard. In the 1960s, he began work at Dixie Finance Company as an auditor for J. Mack Robinson’s rediscount company. He managed several offices, was named a director, and later became senior vice president over operations. He continued in that position with responsibility for 165 offices in nine states for First Family Financial Services following a name change after the company’s purchase by Wachovia. In 1986 he left to open his own business in Anderson, South Carolina. He successfully ran Loan Service until he sold the business in 2000 and moved back to Cartersville.
Bobby was an outstanding golfer with four hole-in-ones who played many of the most well-known courses, including the most thrilling, Augusta National, home of the Masters. His passion for golf was matched by his love and devotion to his pets. Another pleasure was travel. Bobby enjoyed trips to the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, as well as the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with his family and friends.
