Brenda Hansen, 85, passed away in Woodstock, GA on 1 July
2024.
Brenda was born on March 12th, 1939 to Harold and Mildred
Shepler in Vandergrift, PA where she grew up. After graduating from high school
she went to Grove City College where she graduated in 1961. She then went on to
Penn State University to obtain her Masters in Education. It was there she met
her husband, Robert (Bob) Hansen. As she would tell the story to her children
years later, Bob worked at the Creamery in State College and when she and her
friends would visit, he would put extra scoops of ice[1]cream on her cone. It
was love at first sight. She and Bob went on to marry in 1965 and settled in Pittsburgh,
PA.
Brenda was passionate about education and had a long career
as a teacher working at Fox Chapel High School, Robert Morris College, and The
Ellis School. Brenda was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church since 1966
where she served as a Deacon prior to moving to Florida in 2004. As an avid
golfer, Brenda spent much of her spare time enjoying the game with her husband
and close friends at Edgewood Country Club in Pittsburgh and Plantation Bay in
Ormond Beach, FL.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, her brother Harold
Shepler and her husband. She is survived by her two children Keith Hansen of
Atlanta, GA and Kristen Mangels of Arlington, VA, their spouses Wendy Hansen
and Luke Mangels as well as her beloved grandsons Erik and Dane Hansen.
The family would like to thank Camelia Place of Woodstock,
GA, Comforting Arms Home Health Care, and Afinis Hospice for the exceptional
care that they provided.
