Brenda Hudson

Brenda Hudson, born March 26, 1952, in Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on the evening of April 5, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Mechling Sr and Julia Mechling; and her brothers Roy Mechling Jr and Ralph Mechling.

Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, David Hudson; her daughters, Jennifer Pollard (Brent Pollard) and Melissa Michael (Kevin Michael); her 4 grandchildren Kylie Michael, Emma Pollard, Lily Michael, and Jaxson Pollard; her 3 brothers, sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.

She was the only girl of six children between Roy and Julia Mechling. She grew up in Columbia, SC and graduated from Dreher High School in 1970. She was known for her athleticism and friendly personality.

A devoted wife and mother, Brenda found the most joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who were her heart. She loved having a front row seat to all their performances, sporting games, choral concerts, and award ceremonies. Brenda enjoyed gardening, singing, playing cards, and taking trips to the mountains or the beach.

Brenda's warm and caring spirit will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her infectious smile and bright light will never be forgotten.
