Clifford W. Elster

August 12, 1923 — July 17, 2017

Clifford Walker Elster, 93, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away July 17, 2017, and went to be with his Savior and family in heaven. He was born August 12, 1923, in Atlanta, to Charles Joshua Elster and Mary Ella Walker Elster, one of eight children. A graduate of Atlanta’s Tech High School, he served in the Navy for three years during World War 2 on a ship in the Pacific as a Carpenter’s Mate Second Class. He married his lifelong love Juanita Hall on July 26, 1945, enjoying nearly 70 years of marriage and three children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He worked for many years in electronics, ending his work career with several years with Magnavox and North American Philips. He loved gardening, canning, and woodworking, often sharing the fruits of his labors with family and friends. He was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church in Marietta and had donated his woodworking skills to several projects there. He is survived by a son, Randy (Cheryl); a son-in-law, Wayne; four grandchildren, Chris, Scott, Todd (Jessa), and Jenni; a great-grandchild, Skylar; and two sisters, Mary and Helen. He is predeceased by his wife, Nita, and daughters, Julie and Jenny. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. , both on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 , at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, 2825 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta, Georgia 30066. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. the same day at Georgia National Cemetery, 5580 Knox Bridge Highway, Canton, Georgia 30114.
