Drew Griffin was born on October 21, 1962 in the south Chicago suburb of Evergreen Park, Illinois. He died on December 17, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Judy Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Margot, his three children, Ele Gast (Dennis), Louis Griffin and Miles Griffin and his two grandchildren, Marjorie “Rorie” and Herbert “Herbie” Gast, his brothers Peter Griffin (Meg) and Michael Griffin (Nicki). He also leaves behind so many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Many will remember him by the South-side Chicago grit that characterized his journalism career, but it is his strong faith in God, deep love for family, razor sharp wit, hilarious sense of humor, and infectious energy that will be his legacy. Drew had a true zest for life, his spirit of adventure led him to see all 50 states, most of Europe, and much of the world. He loved listening to good jazz with good friends and good wine. Drew was a shining light who will forever warm the hearts of those who loved him.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Johns Creek at 10:30am on Friday January 6th. Private lunch to follow with friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Relief Services (https://www.crs.org) are greatly appreciated.
