Edeltraud “Edel” Nuber

August 18, 1943 — February 26, 2017

Edeltraud “Edel” Nuber, 73, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Northside Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was born on August 18, 1943, in Herne, West Germany, the daughter of Joseph Mushold and Maria Ramakers. She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Mushold and her mother and father.

Survivors include her husband, David John Nuber of 35 years; son, Holger (Hal) Ramakers; daughters, Tanya Ramakers and Heidi Navarro along with their spouses.

Edel loved to cook and spend time at home with her beloved husband and their “other child” Ruby, their miniature dachshund. She also loved animals and her flower gardens. She was one of the most selfless people that anyone could meet having spent years working around people. Whether running her own daycare in her younger days, or spending time caring for those in nursing homes as a CNA, everyone came before she did. To the children, she was always “mom” and she always found a way to make you smile and feel like you were the most important person in the room, whether it was through her bigger than life personality or whether something she said when speaking in “Ginglish,” her own personal language which was a cross between German and English.

While living in Utica, New York in the 1970’s, after moving to the U.S. from Germany, Edel was very involved with the Utica Maennerchor for many years, dancing with the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers, singing with the ladies choir, and working to support many of the club’s German parties such as Fasching and Octoberfest. Edel loved her German heritage.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at The Grove Baptist Church in Maysville, Georgia, with Pastor Keith Cameron officiating.

Contributions in Edel’s memory may be made to the ASPCA .
