October 11, 1963 – January 29, 2017 (age 53)
Born in Emporia, Kansas, Elexia R. Yoakem-Goff was raised in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. As a young girl she loved playing with her cousins, and fishing on the Cottonwood river. She attended Chase County High School. She received her Bachelor Degree in Sociology from Emporia State University. During that time, Elexia met her husband of 28 years, Douglas W. Goff, and they were married in Emporia, Kansas, on February 6, 1988. She worked as a Director of Admissions at a drug and alcohol rehab center in Shawnee, Kansas, before moving to Acworth, Georgia, to become a stay-at-home mom.
On September 1, 1996, Elexia was diagnosed with brain cancer. While cancer-free a year later, the disease had left her disabled. She never complained about her disability and worked hard to overcome her challenges. She enjoyed watching her children grow, sending cards that she had written, and traveling to various family events across the country.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her 3 children, Allyson Goff, Daniel Goff, Ashlyn Goff, and Ashlyn Goff’s son, (grandson) Casen Goff, all of Acworth, Georgia. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Yoakem of Kennesaw, Georgia, and her brother, Lance Yoakem and sister-in-law, Rhonda Yoakem of Jasper, Georgia, along with nieces and a nephew.
A memorial worship service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Georgia Funeral Care and Cremation Services, located at 4671 South Main Street, Acworth, Georgia, 30101.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to her husband, Douglas W. Goff, at 1782 May Glen Drive, Acworth, Georgia 30102, or go to the
