Ellen Marie Bass (nee Mullin), age 69, of Floral City, Florida, passed away on Christmas morning at Peachtree Christian Hospice, Duluth, Georgia, following a sudden illness. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Mathew & Elyssa Bass and Melanie Bass Brandt, both of Atlanta, Georgia. Loving grandmother of Jordan and Alex Bass and William and Farrah Brandt. Dear sister of Michael E., Thomas P. and Edward M. Mullin, Nancy E. O’Malley, Carol A Hanlon, Linda L. Mullin, Maureen T. Mullin and the late Joseph Mullin. Daughter of the late Edward J. and Agnes R. Mullin (nee O’Brien). Beloved aunt, niece, cousin and sister-in-law.
Ellen was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Graduate of Ursuline Academy in Cleveland, where she was elected president of the student council her senior year. Shortly after high school, Ellen ventured off to Washington D.C. where she worked as a secretary with the F.B.I. During her F.B.I. career, Ellen received three Letters of commendation signed by J. Edgar Hoover in recognition of her excellent work. Ellen left the F.B.I. to become a flight attendant with Eastern Air Lines, based first in Washington D.C., and then in New York City.
Upon getting married, Ellen moved to Chicago, Illinois where she raised her two children Matt and Melanie. While living in Chicago, Ellen earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Columbia College. Ellen was a talented writer and journalist. She worked as a legal secretary, as a recruiting director for a prominent Chicago law firm, and eventually for the American Bar Association. Ellen eventually worked as a highly successful residential real estate agent based in Evanston, Illinois. She eventually moved to Floral City, Florida, where she worked as a successful real estate broker prior to her retirement.
Ellen had a deep love for animals and will be missed by her precious dog Dorie, now adopted by her son Matt and his family.
