Lance Corporal Eric B. Phelps, a proud veteran of the United State Marine Corp, passed away Sunday March 30 th , 2025, at his family’s home in Cumming, Georgia. He was 36 years old.

Born June 10, 1988, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, Eric was the beloved and eldest son of Joseph and Stephanie Phelps. He spent his childhood in Marietta and Douglasville, Georgia, as well as Tampa and Orlando, Florida, and later Ringgold and Cumming, Georgia. He graduated from Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida, in 2006.

At 19, Eric answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. While serving on active duty, Eric was awarded two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation. He held his service with deep pride and considered it a great honor and privilege to serve, wear the uniform, and rise to the rank of Lance Corporal.

Eric lived his life with unwavering honor, courage, and integrity. He had a generous spirit, undeniable kindness, and humorous, quick-witted mind. Those who knew him were inspired by his strength, compassion, and selflessness. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched; his presence and love will forever be woven into the stories of those he held close.

He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Stephanie Phelps; his brothers, Nicholas (and wife Kelly), Christopher, and Steven Phelps; his nieces, Paisley and Cienna Phelps; his nephew, Caden Phelps; and girlfriend, Alena Carr. Eric also leaves behind a large circle of friends who were like family. He will be deeply missed and remembered always.

A service honoring the life of Eric will be held at Georgia National Cemetery on April 24, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
