Ernest R. Beckner, Jr.

April 13, 1939 — July 11, 2017

Ernest Ramsey Beckner Jr., a retired electrical engineer and 40 year resident of Acworth passed peacefully from health complications on July 11, 2017.


Ernest is survived by his wife Mary Luise Beckner, his children, Ernie Beckner III, Dewitt Beckner, Dwayne Beckner, Lisa Jones, and Louis Woods. As well as several grandchildren, Tyler Jones, Aaron Jones, Bryan Jones, Brandy Beckner, Brandon Beckner, Amy Stone, Chasity Woods, Hollie Lubinsky, Julia Anne Smith, and Ashley Woods, and several great grandchildren.


Ernest was born on April, 13, 1939 in Charlottesville, Virginia to Ernest Beckner Sr. and Gracie Beckner. After serving his country for 10 years in the Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La, Earnest went on to have a 30 year career as an electrical engineer for Lucent Technologies. He married his wife Mary Luise Beckner on June 2, 1979.


Ernest was a gun enthusiast and an avid fisherman. He loved his country and was a true patriot. He loved spending time with his grandkids and reminiscing about his time in the Navy and in Spain. He was always ready with a joke to make you smile. He enjoyed his weekly workouts and going to his favorite local restaurant, Daddy’s.


He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.


A small memorial service will held at Georgia Funeral Care on July 21st at 10:30 AM , followed by Military Honors at the Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Canton, GA.
