Frances Elizabeth "Libby" Murphy

Frances Elizabeth “Libby” Murphy went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She was born on April 14, 1936, to Hazel and TJ Warlick in Cartersville, Georgia. Libby spent her youth living in Columbus, GA, Savannah, GA, Munsonville, NH and Keene NH. She graduated from Keene High School and later graduated from Keene State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She spent over 25 years teaching first grade in New Hampshire, Florida and Georgia.

Libby loved to express her artistic talent by painting beautiful pictures, crocheting, needlepoint and crewel embroidery.

Libby met the love of her life, James Murphy in 1953. They were married on June 26, 1954 in Munsonville, NH, and spent the next 70 years loving each other. They had three children.

Frances is preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Guillow, her stepfather, Maurice Guillow, her father, TJ Warlick and her stepmother Ruby Warlick and her brother, Thomas Warlick. She leaves behind her husband, James; two sisters, Sarah Mills and Jackie Phillips; a step-sister, Pam Edmondson (Don); three children, Steven Thomas Murphy (Valerie), Linda Marie Welkner (Vernon) and Julie Elaine Murphy; 6 grandchildren; Jennifer Long, Amanda Lyons, Elizabeth Brownell, John Welkner, Jane Montgomery, Rachel Henderson and 16 great grandchildren.

Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, on March 11, 2025 at 2:30 pm.
