George Tasker, 70, of Cartersville, GA, died Friday, June 15, 2018, peacefully at home. Born in Chicago Hyde Park area in 1948 to George A. and Helen MacFalls Tasker, he attended Harvard St. George School and the University of Illinois. George married Mickey Morrissey in 1973; and they lived in Evanston, IL, for 8 years.
He worked for International Film Bureau & Companies for 11 years until the family made the move to Cartersville, GA, in 1981. Initially, George worked for the family firm, Utility Parts. He retired as Senior Programmer after working for Shaw Industries for 30 years. He was a member of Episcopal Church of Ascension. George loved music; and was a classical guitarist. He was a lifelong supporter of Chicago sports, win or lose!
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mickey Morrissey Tasker; daughter, Rachelle Ploetz (Bob), of Valparasio, IN; sons, Brandon G. Tasker, and Zachary W. Tasker (Jennifer), all of Cartersville; 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law; and 3 first cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at Episcopal Church of Ascension, 205 W. Cherokee Avenue, Cartersville, GA 30120, with Very Rev. Mary K. Erickson officiating. The family requests no flowers. Contributions may be made to Episcopal Church of Ascension, Age 2 Age Campaign.
