Granville “Phil” Louis Phillips Jr.

Granville “Phil” Louis Phillips Jr., 65, passed away at his home in Cartersville, GA on January 7, 2021. Phil was born on August 7, 1955 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Phil had a laugh and a smile that was contagious.  He often shared his love for the water with his family and cherished friends. He enjoyed LSU football, being outdoors and spending time with his loved ones and dog, Maggie. He was the beloved soccer coach for the girls’ soccer team and a member of the football coaching staff at Cass High School for 18 years. Throughout his coaching career, he found fulfillment through loving the players that he coached as his own. Phil lived larger than life. He was a passionate and jovial man who brought so much love to all with whom he spent time.

Phil is preceded in death by his father, Granville Phillips Sr, his mother, Alice Phillips and his sister, Linda Carroll.

Along with his wife of twenty-one years, Terri Phillips, he is survived by his son, Sean (Jackie) Phillips and grandchildren Sean Jr. and Savannah of Huffman, Texas; daughter Erin (Casey) Potts and grandchildren Claire and Kate of Hammond, Louisiana; daughter Nicole Griffith of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Ben (Amber) Willis of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Geraldine (George) Carroll of Saucier, Mississippi; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends to honor and cherish his memory.

The family will invite friends and relatives to a celebration of his life in the coming months. Please make donations to Cass High Athletics by mail or drop off to Cass High School located at 1000 Colonel Way White, GA 30184 in lieu of flowers.
