Harvey Eugene Berry
August 24, 1939 – January 12, 2025
Harvey Eugene Berry, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully
passed away on January 12, 2025, in Cartersville, Georgia. Born on August 24, 1939, in
Statesboro, Georgia, to Harvey and Pearl Berry, Harvey lived a life rooted in love,
resilience, and devotion to his family and community.
Harvey was the proud father of two sons, John Berry (married to Deanna) and Mark
Berry (married to Sheri). His greatest joy came from his grandchildren: Madeline
Redmer, Bailey Berry, Emily Burton (married to Chris), Lizzie Berry, and Matt Berry.
Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he found endless pride in their
accomplishments and happiness.
Family was the cornerstone of Harvey’s life. A devoted husband to his late wife, Estelle,
their enduring love was the foundation of the family they built together. He was a man of
boundless generosity, often putting others' needs above his own. His kindness extended
far beyond his family, touching the lives of countless friends and strangers alike.
Harvey’s love of sports defined much of his life. A natural athlete, he excelled in softball
and basketball in his younger years, and in later life, golf became his passion. Whether
on the court, the field, or the golf course, Harvey’s competitive spirit and camaraderie
with his teammates brought him endless joy. He was also a lifelong fan of the Georgia
Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves, rarely missing a game and proudly cheering for his
favorite teams.
Harvey spent much of his career at Colonial Cartage, a trucking company for M&M
Mars. Known for his hardworking nature and generosity, he always had the best candy
to share, earning him the affection of colleagues and the waitstaff at his favorite
restaurants, such as Olde Towne, where he was known for his friendly smile and
thoughtful treats.
Harvey is survived by his two sisters, Delina Brown and Audrey Sadler, whose love and
support were constants throughout his life.
Visitation will be held at Georgia Funeral Care in Acworth on Friday, January 17, 2025,
from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Harvey will then be laid to rest in his hometown of Statesboro. A
second visitation will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.,
followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, a
cause dear to their hearts. This gesture honors Harvey’s life and reflects the hope of
easing the challenges faced by families battling this disease.
As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, let us remember not only the profound loss
we feel but also the love, laughter, and countless memories Harvey gave us. His life
was a shining example of kindness, strength, and generosity—a light that will forever
guide the hearts of all who loved him.
