Jane Gale Holt (Age 86), of Dunwoody, GA passed away on Sunday July 2, 2017. Jane was the daughter of Joe and Isabelle (“Bobby”) Gale of Berkley, CA and was an alumna of the Walnut Hill School and Finch College.
Jane was an avid fisherwoman and published in Chisie Farrington’s “Women Can Fish” in 1951 standing next to her 475 lb. tuna off the pier at Rosie’s Ledge. Jane was a lover of animals and was known to have a wide variety of pets including some exotics such as a penguin, monkeys, African finches, canaries, in addition to her beloved dogs and other typical household animals. Jane was known for her quick wit, unyielding loyalty, her culinary skills, and her green thumb. As a life-long Episcopalian, Jane was a member of the alter guild in multiple parishes. She also volunteered with the Jr. League and Good Samaritan Hospital of Palm Beach, FL.
Jane married George Beckwith and raised 5 children in Palm Beach, FL. She later remarried to Clark Holt with whom she raised her 6th child in Fairfield, CT. Jane was a real estate agent for 25 years in both CT and GA and was beloved by all of her clients for the extraordinary care she provided to them. Jane was survived by her three sisters (Ann Clopins, Gay Gayle, and Wendy Phelps), and 5 of her children (Chip Beckwith, Virginia Bain, Daphne Lamb, Isabelle Newbold, and Elizabeth Pepper). She was predeceased by her son, Peter Beckwith. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care bestowed upon her while at Hospice Atlanta in Brookhaven, GA.
Memorial service and reception will be held at the St. Peter & Paul Episcopal Church at
