Jerry Ronald Gravitt

Jerry Ronald Gravitt of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on July 18, 2017 surrounded by his family at Townsend Park Nursing Facility. He was born on November 13, 1935 to the late Hubert and Alice Gravitt. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Casey Gravitt, his sister and Allene Landerfelt. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Dobson Gravitt and his daughter, Melissa Gravitt Rooney/Steve Rooney, his brother Jim/Pattie Gravitt and grand-children, Emma Rooney, Katelin/Zac Cummings, Noah Rooney, and his niece and his nephews.

Jerry grew up spending his childhood in Roswell, Ga. and graduated Roswell High School class of 1954. After high school, he bought and managed 2 Gulf Oil Service Stations in Roswell.

Jerry went to work at Lockheed in 1961 where he worked a variety of jobs but was eventually the payroll master. He worked at Lockheed for 42 years and continued to contract for an additional 5 years.

There will be visitation at 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am on July 21, 2017 at Heritage Baptist Church, 1070 Douthit Road, Cartersville, GA, 30121. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in honor of Jerry.
