Joseph Richard Henry Southall

February 28, 1943 — June 4, 2023

Joseph Richard Henry Southall, 85, died at his home in Kennesaw, Georgia, on June 4, 2023, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.  He was born 28 February 1943, in Quebec, Quebec PC, Canada.  Joe was retired from the United States Air Force and from the Accounting and Finance Office at what was then called Dobbins Air Force Base.  He was an avid fisherman, a master of the grill, and a cigar aficionado. Joe was predeceased by his parents, John and Estelle (Richard) Southall; his sisters, Irene (Frank) Yoh, Louisette (Edgar) Murray, and Michelene Southall; his son John Wesley Southall, and his grandson, Joshua Thomas Brown.

The much loved and respected patriarch of a large, blended family, Joseph is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marthe Lynn Southall, and their children:  Jeanine Southall, widow of John Wesley Southall; Joseph (Mary Sparks) Southall of Kennesaw, GA; Wade (Cynthia Naeve) Brown of Fishers, IN; Warren (Candice Matheney) Southall of Watkinsville, GA; Jennifer (Mike Best) Wagner of Kennesaw, GA; and Kevin (Rina Munumer) Southall of Elberton, GA.  Joseph had 22 grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Georgia Funeral Care.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, Marietta, GA, where Joe was one of the founding members of the parish.  Date not yet set.  Burial will be in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
