d. February 8, 2025

Woodstock, GA

Lela Helen Mahan, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed peacefully on February 8, 2025, at 92 years old, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Cobb County, Georgia, she was a beloved Wife, Mother, grandmother, Aunt, and a child of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lee Smith and Myrtie Ann (Green) Smith, and all of her 8 precious siblings; Nancy Jane “NJ”, James Levi “Bud”, Myrtle Lee, Marvin Eugene “Gene”, Mary Louise (died at birth), Troy “Hubert”, Thomas Carl “Tommy”, and Charlie “Red”. As well as her second husband Frank Mahan, and her first great love, Bobby Gene Ragle - both from Oklahoma. She is survived by her children Carolyn June Ragle, Gary Ragle (Cindy), Randy Ragle (Judy), Judy (Mahan) Wise (Gary), and Jerry Mahan (Nancy) as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. And her companion protector Meow Meow.

She loved God, her country, her entire family, reading her Bible and who-done-it mysteries, watching old tv westerns (especially gunsmoke!) and movies. She loved classic country music and gardening. She absolutely loved giving friends and family her beloved hydrangeas, and hens and chicks. She loved offering gardening advice and was very proud of her ‘green thumb!’

She touched countless lives with her thoughtful words and her devotion to family. To know her was to be shown the true meaning of unconditional love. She brought joy to every room she entered, and her kindness left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered. She was truly a woman of unwavering kindness, compassion, and love. Her heart was as vast as her wisdom, and she spent her life nurturing those around her with warmth, generosity, and a gentle spirit. She was a friend, a confidante, and a guiding light for many. Her whole life was a testament to the beauty of selflessness and care for others. She will be remembered not only for the love she gave but also for the lessons she imparted through her actions: the importance of kindness, patience, and family.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She was the kindest person many of us have ever known, and she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
