Linda Sharon Brooks,68 entered eternal peace on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the home of her daughterfrom complications related to illness.
Linda was born July 14, 1949, inChicago, Illinois to Clifford Kilpatrick and Mercedes P. Thomas. She dedicatedher life to God at an early age and served as an active member of the Temple ofMercy Healing Fire Church under the leadership of her mother, Rev. MercedesEdwards and stepfather Bishop Marshall Edwards. For nearly 19 years Lindastayed away from the church but she continued studying the Bible, readingspiritual books, and reading inspirational articles. The Science of Mind bookwritten by Ernest Holmes inspired her the most. She re-dedicated her life toGod in 1990 at Emmanuel Grace Apostolic Church, under the pastorate of ElderArthur L. Stokes, Pastor, in Tucson, Arizona. Linda relocated to Chicago,Illinois October 31, 1992. She joined Greater Mount Pleasant Baptist Church,under the pastorate of Pastor Steve Jones and First Lady, Beverly Jones. Lindajoined the church choir under the choir’s director George Mays. She continuedunder the pastorate of Pastor Jones in 1993 when he founded Praise TabernacleDeliverance Baptist Church, where she continued singing in the choir the Voicesof Praise. Bishop Steve Jones licensed Linda S. Brooks as an Associate MinisterDecember 8, 1996.
She has held positions as, Sunday School Director, SundaySchool Teacher, Head of Evangelism Team, Director Outreach Ministry, andCoordinator for Vacation Bible School In August 1998 Minister Brooks moved hermembership and joined Christ Unity Capital Church under the pastorate of heraunt, Dr. Rev. Helen Jewell Daniels, known to some as Evangelist Helen J.Daniels. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Speaker and functions in manyother positions when needed. In March 2000 Minister Brooks re-instated hermembership with Praise Tabernacle Deliverance Baptist Church. She serves as aMinister Council Representative and Director of Vacation Bible School and wasan active member of Praise Evangelism Ministry Linda is currently a member ofSecond Mt Calvary M.B. Church under the leadership of her cousins, PastorRonald Spencer and First Lady, Evangelist Vida Spencer She has earned severaldegrees since relocating to Chicago. She earned an Honor Associate of Art inSociology, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master of Arts inPastoral Counseling. She also has a Certificate Airline/Travel Career and aCertificate Financial Examiner Trainee. Minister Brooks death was proceeded byher mother; Rev. Mercedes Edwards and several siblings.
She is survived by herchildren: daughter Renika D. Nole (Michael) of Acworth GA and son Marcus DBrooks (Ashley) of Chicago IL. Brothers: Quentin Troy Thomas of Kansas City MOand Marshall Edwards of Mesa, AZ Sisters: Yvonne (Bonnie) Thomas of Chicago,IL; Sheila Cogborn of Tucson, AZ; Beverly Jean Johnson of Tucson, AZ; andCarita Wilson of Layton, UT. Grandchildren: Andre, Aliyah, Marcus Jr. and QueenMarie, Jasmin, Kenny, and Julian. Great Grandchildren: Amirah. And many Auntscousins, nieces and nephews. Minister Brooks says that her success is based onher children’s maturity in the spirit of God’s love, mercy, and grace. FuneralServices will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, 3:00 PM, in the chapel ofGeorgia Funeral Care, 4671 S. Main St. Acworth, GA.
