Marylin Cook Berggrun, aged 92, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, in Kennesaw, GA. Born on March 22, 1932, in Black Mountain, N.C and only left her hometown to get a BA in English and Spanish Education from Catawba College. She ventured abroad after marrying Dr. Simon Berggrun, where she taught English in American schools in Argentina.

She served as a Program Director for Atlanta Public Schools and as an instructor at Kennesaw State University. Her leadership extended to her role as President of the Latin American Association and she was instrumental in founding the ESL programs with Georgia State University and Kennesaw State University.

She was involved in her church, FUMC of Marietta and sang in the church choir for over 25 years.

Marylin was a pillar of support for her family putting her husband through graduate school and for his doctorate. She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Sistilli of Kennesaw, GA; granddaughters Danyell Sistilli Leger of Kennesaw, GA, and Crystal Briggs of Acworth, GA; cousin David Cook of Black Mountain; and three great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr.Simon Berggrun; son, Terrell Berggrun; and her parents, Ethel and Allie Cook of Black Mountain, 

Marylin Berggrun lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of those around her through her dedication to education, her love for music, and her unwavering support for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
