Michael Alan Pollard

August 17, 1957 — July 4, 2017

POLLARD, Michael Alan

July 4, 2017

Mike (“Paw Paw”) Pollard, 59, of Canton, passed on to meet his Heavenly Father following an illness he fought with courage and dignity for several years.  Those closest to him knew him as brave and strong with the kindest of hearts.  To know him was to love him, and it is without doubt that he loved 10x’s more in return.  He was a Christian man. He was preceded in death by his father, George William Pollard, a sister Gale E. Sanders, and a brother H. Wayne Pollard.

Mike was born August 17, 1957 in Elizabeth, Louisiana and came to Georgia in his adolescent years. He graduated from Sequoyah High School in Doraville.  There, he was one of the school’s finest athletes of nearly every sport including football, track, and wrestling.  Later, he would play Semi-Professional football for The Atlanta Cowboys and then would own and operate his own business Pollard Appliance Installations.  His family, co-workers, and customers all considered him a hard worker with excellent ethics and someone that could fix anything.  He enjoyed food, particularly anything served with root beer, hunting, fishing, and racing his ‘71 Chevelle at Dixie Speedway.

He was an expert Black Jack player with the straightest of Poker faces.  His sense of humor and laugh left a mark on everyone he met.

Survivors include his mother, G. Juanita Pollard; brother David W. Pollard (Galina); daughters Rebecca Pollard Brune (Brandon) and grandchildren Roland and Rosalie and Laura Elizabeth Cortiss (Michael) and grandchildren Justin and Joseph and a little baby girl on the way; son Brandon Michael Pollard (Michele) and grandchildren Brantley and Daylin; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his favorite pet Munchkin whom he simply preferred to call “Kitty-Cat.”

Friends and Family will gather for a memorial service on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 2:00p.m. at the Antioch Christian Church; 3595 Sugar Pike Road, Canton, GA, 30115.  770.475.9828.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation through the church to help cover the family’s costs associated with Mike’s illness and death.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Please express condolences for the family in the comments section below. The Pollard family is being cared for by Georgia Funeral Care and Cremation Services , Acworth, Georgia.
