Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Nita Taylor Burgess, a remarkable woman whose love, kindness, and unwavering faith touched the hearts of all who knew her. Born on December 18, 1950, in West Point, Georgia, Nita was a beacon of light, radiating warmth and grace to all who were blessed to cross her path. She lived her life with a sweet smile, an open heart, and an enduring willingness to help others, always putting the needs of those she loved before her own. A proud graduate of West Point High School in 1969, Nita's journey was one of love, dedication, and hard work. In 1976, she met Dennis Burgess, and soon after, their beautiful daughter, Mary Elizabeth, was born in 1979. For Nita, family was everything. She was a devoted wife, a loving and supportive mother, and a woman whose presence provided comfort in ways words could not express. She had a gift for soothing her daughter with the kind of love only a mother can offer — a love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. For 45 years, Nita worked at Shaw Industries, where her dedication and work ethic were unparalleled. But it wasn’t just her career that defined her; it was her heart. She was deeply involved in her community and her church. As a youth group sponsor, Sunday school teacher, and active participant in Bible studies, Nita’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her contributions to Branches of Christ Church and her unwavering loyalty to Lloyd Presbyterian Church were a testament to her devotion to God and to serving others with humility and grace. Nita’s legacy is not one of material accomplishments, but of love and service. She was a pillar in the lives of her husband, daughter, two brothers, nephew, and many cousins. Her spirit of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire and guide us all. As we remember Nita, we hold in our hearts the beautiful memories of a woman who exemplified Christ's love in everything she did. She gave freely of her time, her heart, and her faith, and she leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her love, her lessons, and her presence will remain with us forever. Rest in peace, Nita Taylor Burgess. You were loved beyond measure, and your light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know you. A visitation will be held at The Branches of Christ Church, Acworth, GA, Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 11 AM - 1 PM followed by the funeral at 1 PM. Nita will be buried in West Point, GA with her parents.
