June 28, 1944 to September 30, 2024
Oliver Morgan, 80, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, September 30, 2024. He was born on June 28, 1944, in Griffin, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Dorothy, his mother Mae, his father Robert, his two siblings, Snoweena and William, and his beloved great-granddaughter, Katana Sage.
Oliver leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years, Margie Morgan, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. Together, they raised two children, Lisa, and her spouse Scott Cowart, and Darrin Lee Morgan. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Christy and her husband Chris Hiland, Zach and his wife Laura Cowart, Mirindi and her wife Paris Cowart, and Morgan Cowart and Destiny Gayton. He was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Raylyn, Eli, Lilly, Mammie, CJ, Zandy, Zachary Jr., Daymi, Kaliyah, Katana, and Maela. Oliver cherished his family, including his niece and several nephews.
He spent his early years in Griffin, Georgia, later moving to Cartersville, Georgia, as a teenager. Oliver worked for 25 years at Georgia Tubular, where he formed lasting friendships with Stanley Chesser and Loretta Robinson. After retiring in his 60s, Oliver enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved listening to country music, tending to his lawn, and sharing breakfast each morning with his wife at Martin's.
Oliver had a deep love for animals, especially his dog Ollie. In his later years, he formed a strong bond with his home health nurse, Tana Romero, whom he lovingly referred to as his "angel on earth."
He was a man deeply loved by many and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His wings were ready, but our hearts were not.
Service will be on Sunday October 6th, visitation from 3-5 with a memorial service to follow at 5PM in the chapel of Georgia Funeral Care, 4671 S. Main St, Acworth, Ga 30101
