Robert “Kim” McIntire, age 81, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, ofpancreatic cancer. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina on August 12, 1943 to the late RobertBeitzel McIntire and Mary Beth Walker McIntire.Kim’s childhood was spent in Japan, Germany, and San Francisco, California, before settling inGeorgia in his teens. He attended North Georgia College, serving in the ROTC. After college, Kimwas a Captain in the Army and earned a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War in 1968. Afterretirement from the Army, he began a second career in Pastoral Counseling. He earned a Master ofDivinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1971. He was ordained an Elder ofthe United Methodist Church and would serve as Chaplain at Grady Hospital, Lead Pastor at CaveSpring Methodist in Cave Spring, Georgia and at Wesley Chapel UMC in Marietta, Georgia. Hecompeted in triathlons and many Peachtree Road Races in his spare time.He relocated from Smyrna, Georgia to Rome, Georgia in 2020. He spent his days preparing a goodmeal, watching movies, caring for his cats (Tawny and Raja), and watching college football.Kim is preceded in death by his parents, brother Mark and precious pets- Stolen, BJ, Amanda, andDijon. He is survived by his cherished companion, Jenny Price; sons, Christopher Shawn (Christy)McIntire of Marietta, GA and Kevin Leigh (Ramsey) McIntire of Cary, NC; brothers, Jon (Peggy)McIntire and Scott (Alison) McIntire; sister Robi (Jerry) Brook; four granddaughters- Kaitlyn, Lindsey,Avery and Eleanor; former spouse, Rae Ann Cail McIntire, and eight nieces and nephews.Graveside service and burial will be planned and announced at a later date.
