Allan James Lee, age 74, of Cartersville, GA passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2024, after a year-long battle with Leukemia.

Born in Chicago, IL to parents Sander and Gwendolyn Lee. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janet, and his daughter, Angie and son-in-law, Bob Barnett and grandson, Jordan. He is survived by his sister, Susan (Bill) and brothers Richard (Kau), David (Lisa), and Donald (Andrea). He also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

Allan put himself through college and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1971 with a BS in Computer Science. He took a job with Children’s Hospital developing a new concept of a nation-wide medical records program. Afterwards, he joined IBM in Maryland, following in his father’s footsteps. He eventually transferred to Atlanta, where he later retired from IBM.

Throughout his life, he loved to play baseball, softball, football, and racquetball. He loved spectator sports, and faithfully rooted for his Chicago Bears, White Sox, and Cubs. He enjoyed the arch rivalry of his wife’s favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Allan was truly a kind and selfless man! He was always eager to help someone, whether it was physical, financial, or verbal. He had many hobbies and interests. He donated blood and platelets monthly for over a decade. He was a long-time member of his church, Holy Trinity, in Marietta, GA, where he participated as an usher. In his retirement, he volunteered his time and energy to AARP as a Senior Tax Preparer and District Manager. He had a huge passion for collectibles, including Olympic and other sports memorabilia.

Allan loved his extended family!  He loved his nieces and nephews and always attended every graduation and wedding no matter where it was located, and never missed their birthday or Christmas. He loved his aunts, uncles, and cousins, and always attended every family reunion, wedding, and funeral.

A Celebration of his Life will be at Savior of All Lutheran Church, 35 Indian Trail SE, Cartersville, GA on Allan’s birthday, November 22, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation.
