James “Jim” Dilworth Pehrson, 54, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 20, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born on July 9, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Marilu and Donald Pehrson.
He graduated from Florida Southern College in 1985 where he earned his accounting degree and his CPA accreditation. While attending college, Jim brought his competitive spirit to the men’s tennis team.
After graduation, Jim took a position with the City of Lakeland, Florida. In 1997, Jim began his work for Cobb County Government where he worked in the finance department. He earned several promotions, culminating to his promotion to Chief Financial Officer of Cobb County.
On November 4, 1989, Jim married Donna Diane Souther. Together, they brought their Christian values to every aspect of their lives and the lives of their two children, Timothy and Lauren.
Jim was devoted to his family, friends and Cobb County family. He was truly invested in the lives of others around him. He was a mentor in his home, in the workplace, and on the ball field. If he was not coaching, he was your number one fan.
Jim’s deep love for Christ was evident to everyone who met him. He was an example to all of courage, faith and trust in God. This was never more evident than during his battle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife Donna, his son Timothy who is a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, his Baby Girl Lauren Burns and her husband Eric, his mother Marilu Pehrson, siblings John Pehrson, David Pehrson, Carolyn Brannan and their spouses. He had 20 nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his father Donald Pehrson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, February 23rd 4:00 pm at NorthStar Church 3413 Blue Springs Rd NW Kennesaw, Georgia 30144. Family will receive friends following the service.
