Clifford Daniel Hill

Clifford Daniel Hill, 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Acworth, GA on Thursday, December 16, 2021.   

Dan was born on February 18, 1928, in Atlanta, GA to Lola Louise Harris from Powder Springs, GA. He was the middle child of three boys and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific theatre, afterward attended Georgia Tech and enjoyed a successful career in Engineered Power Drives sales. He married Mary Elizabeth Reith in 1958 and their family settled in Lakeland, Florida in the early ’60s through the ’70s and returned to Atlanta in the mid-1980s, where they became life-long members of the community.

Dan lived life to the fullest and touched many with his warm charm, great sense of humor, a genuine love for others, and his gracious hospitality. His large circle of loved ones includes his spouse, 3 children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and an extended family of cousins and in-Laws who grew up together enjoying many frequent family gatherings and events. He was also blessed with the joy of having many neighbors, friends, and past colleagues. He loved fishing, golfing, bowling, dancing, big band music, and Frank Sinatra.

He is survived by his spouse Mary, of 63 years, along with their children John Michael Hill and wife Charlene, James Warren Hill and wife Stephanie, and Elizabeth Ann Nelson and her husband David, sister-in-Law Ann Reith, and Niece Rhonda Donahue. He loved his role as Grandfather to Drew, David, Sarah, Samantha, Annie, Erin, and Stefi, as well as great grandfather to Hayden, Dayna, Nathan, Dreylan, Jaiden, Riley, Jace, and Hudson.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Meyer Segal, Mary’s parents Warren and Mary Reith, brother’s Homer and Ronald, sisters-in-law Enid and Wilma, brothers-in-law, Earl, Warren Jr and Donald Reith, Niece’s Anita and Nancy Hill, and Nephew’s Russell and Ken Hill.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 21st at 3:30 pm at Georgia Funeral Care in Acworth, GA, preceded by a viewing from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm.  There will be a separate burial ceremony at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on January 10th, at 9:30 am.
