Barbara “Bobbie” Sue Ortiz, age 83, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 4th, 2021. She was born on May 13, 1938. She retired from Floyd Hospital, after serving faithfully as a Registered Nurse for 57 years. She was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church, Rome, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolphus “Dock” Ortiz, Isadora Padgett Ortiz, and her sisters, Brenda Ortiz and Mary Magdalene Ortiz Arnold. She is survived by her brother, Carl (Linda) Ortiz of Van Buren, Arkansas. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, all who affectionately and lovingly knew her as “Aunt Bobbie.”
She served many roles in her 57 years at Floyd Hospital, but she also served just as many outside of work. She was a Sunday School teacher, an Awana teacher, a mentor, and a role model to many, including all her family. “Aunt Bobbie” leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and service to many, but, most of all to her God, her friends, and her family.
A Memorial Service, celebrating Barbara “Bobbie’s” life will be held on Sunday, October 17th, at Hollywood Baptist Church, Rome, Georgia, at 4:00 p.m., with the Rev. David Harper officiating. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the Memorial Service.
