Bennie Nathan Evans

Bennie Nathan Evans, born July 26, 1940 in Neshoba County, MS passed from this earthly world on August 31, 2020 while being cared with dignity and kindness at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain, Marietta, GA at the of age 80.  Bennie lived in Acworth, GA where he enjoyed his family and many friends.

Bennie grew up in rural Newton, MS among a loving family and close knit community.  After high school he attended, graduated, and received a Masters of Science Degree in Vocational Education from Mississippi State University.  During this time, Bennie was a proud member of the National Guard of Mississippi.  After several years of teaching he entered the wood treatment industry as an engineer and plant manager until he retired.  Bennie wrote beautiful poetry throughout his adult life.  Bennie was also a gifted wood craftsman, designing and crafting furniture and many home items, both beautiful and functional.  Before and after retirement Bennie was a partner in a USA based women’s clothing and design enterprise that was very successful.  Bennie was an avid reader and loved a wide range of interests in history from ancient to more recent.  Bennie was a faithful member of St. Teresa’s Episcopal Church in Acworth, GA and took pride for many years in tending to the mowing of the church property lawn.

Bennie was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Scott Evans and his dear parents, James and Wydell Evans.  Bennie has two siblings, Charles Evans and family of Lake, MS and Mrs. Jimmy Craig of Hickory, MS.

Bennie was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Bennie is survived by his wife, Diane Evans of Acworth GA, daughter, Christine Lockamy and her husband, Robert Lockamy of Kennesaw GA, and three grandchildren whom he delighted in: Samantha Shea Lockamy, Caroline Campion Lockamy and Alexander Evans Lockamy of Kennesaw, GA.

Due to Covid-19, there will be a Celebration of Life that will be a virtual service, online, broadcast live from St. Teresa's on Saturday, November 21, 2020, 11am at St. Teresa Church.

The family requests, if you are so inclined, to make memorial contributions to either Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice, 475 Dickson Avenue, Marietta, GA 30064 or St. Teresa’s Episcopal Church, 5275 Fords Rd, Acworth GA 30101 in lieu of flowers.
