Brenda Griffis Jackson of Acworth, GA, passed away peacefully after a short battle with pancreatic cancer on December 5, 2018 at age 64. Brenda spent her last days surrounded by family and dear friends, a testament to the love and kindness she constantly spread to all those who knew her. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Brenda traveled extensively throughout her life and especially enjoyed her 14 years living in Germany. She worked in banking and later as a contractor in merchandising music on military bases helping servicemen and women. The store was called MOMS and all the customers called her “Mom” as they felt close to her and grew to love her as family.
Brenda was born in Gainesville, Florida on March 19, 1954 to Sidney Woodrow Griffis, Sr. and Annie Mae Frith Griffis and grew up in the nearby town of Starke. She was survived by her loving husband of nearly 46 years, Edward Hugh Jackson; cherished son Derek Edward Jackson; beloved daughter Debbie Jackson Mathis and her husband Scott; her precious grandchildren Jackson Lamar Mathis and Dylan Blake Mathis; and her three sweet fur-babies.
She also leaves behind her Aunt and Uncle Josie and Joe Frith, who helped raise her; Uncle Tommy Frith; nephew Zachary Griffis; brother-in-laws Michael Jackson and Jeffrey Jackson and their families; sister-in-law Barbara Cain and her family as well as many cousins who she loved dearly. She is now reunited with her mother and father, sister Carole Anne Griffis, brother Sidney Griffis, and puppy Kira.
Please join us in a celebration of her life Monday, December 10, 2018, at 12pm for visitation and 1pm for a memorial service at St. Paul United Methodist, 244 Kurtz Rd, Marietta, Georgia. A graveside service is being planned in Florida for early January – family will be in touch regarding details. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (https://www.pancan.org). Condolences can be left for the family at www.GeorgiaFuneralCare.com
