Celia Elizabeth Dupont Wannall, daughter of the late Armand and Alice Dupont, and sister of the late Armand, Jr., passed away of complications of dementia on May 7, 2024.
She was welcomed into the loving arms of God the Father and Jesus the Son based on her trust in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. Born on November 25, 1946, in Jacksonville, Florida, she lived in several cities in the USA and in Germany.
She was married to Richard Wannall for 57 years, and they traveled to many countries as tourists and in connection with his military service. They have lived in Marietta since the mid-1980’s.
Educated in a Jacksonville, Florida Catholic school, a Miami high school, and the University of Florida, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees from Valdosta State University and Georgia State University.
Celia taught English in high schools in Germany and in Georgia. She retired as a librarian in Cobb County schools. Celia loved books, was a voracious reader, and started the library at Stonebridge Church in Marietta.
She enjoyed several short-term mission trips to South America and Eastern Europe. Celia always had a welcoming smile and enjoyed fellowship with her many friends. Her quiet spirit was a hallmark of her personality.
She is survived by her husband Richard Wannall; sons Richard Matthew and Daniel Graham; grandson Graham; granddaughters Katie, Lauren Fitzgerald (Sean), Hannah Green-Holloway (Micah), and Peyton Kornegay (Dave) and great-granddaughter Olivia Fitzgerald.
The service of remembrance is Saturday, May 25, at 11 am at Stonebridge Church with reception to follow at the church. The internment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery, Tuesday, May 28, at 11 am.
