Charlene "Cheri" Eckels

Charlene "Cheri" Eckels, 71 yrs old, of 351 Archer St. Canton, GA, completed her journey on earth, August 23rd, 2018, while surrounded by her husband, Mike Hardage and daughter, Heather Hardage.

Mrs. Eckels  was a long-time resident of Downtown Canton, having relocated to the area after purchasing three historic condemned homes, which she brought back to life with her own hands, and those of family and friends. Before retiring, Mrs. Eckels worked as a professional in the insurance field, being a leader in her own right. More recently, she spent her time: reading, playing with her grandson, sharing stories with others, and being an amazing friend to all, family included. On weekends, she loved being in her garden, usually with her husband, daughter and grandchildren, talking about a something she believed in, or having a deep or spiritual conversation.

Mrs. Eckels is survived by: Husband - Mike Hardage, children - Leisa Hardage, Devin Waddell, and Heather Hardage, Grandchildren - Hayden, Rhya, Selina, Kell, Zach and Ian, Great Grandson -  Ashten, niece and sister-at-heart - Diane, and many other family members and friends, that loved her deeply.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at Action Church, located at 271 Marietta Hwy, Canton, GA 30114, on September 8th, 2018 at 2:00pm EST. The family requests no black be worn, as this is a celebration of a life lived, and anyone can bring a dish to share, if they so wish.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to one of the following:

  • An account has been set up for Mrs. Eckels' surviving spouse, Mike Hardage. Contributions can be made in person, at a local Wells Fargo Bank, or through the GoFundMe link, set up by their grandchild.
  • Next Step Ministries in Woodstock, GA. A nonprofit serving special needs adults, teens and children, through various programs.
  • North Metro Miracle League - Cherokee, a nonprofit that provides an opportunity to play baseball, to all special needs players, no matter their age.

May God bless and keep you all.   Condolences can be left for the family at www.GeorgiaFuneralCare.com
