Charles (Butch or Chuck) Edward Wiley, Jr., 80, of Dallas, GA passed away peacefully of natural causes on Friday, June 15th in the year of our Lord, 2018. Charles is survived by his wife Ann, who were happily married for 57 years. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Mark Brown of Pflugerville, Texas, his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Laurie Wiley of Acworth, Georgia, his five grandchildren: David Brown of Midland, Texas; Sean, Erin, Brenna and Morgan Wiley of Acworth, Georgia; a niece, Amy Miele and two nephews, Jerry (Jay) and Robert Martini. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Wiley, Sr. and Julia Gilroy-Wiley of Trenton, New Jersey and his sisters Julia (Penny) Reside of Pennington, NJ and Lorene Martini of Trenton, New Jersey.
Charles was born in 1937 in Trenton, NJ and moved to Bordentown, NJ in 1961. He worked until retirement at DeLaval Turbine, Inc. in Trenton, New Jersey. He completed Army basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and served in the 112th Field Artillery of the New Jersey Army National Guard from 1959-1965, during the Berlin Crisis, where his unit was stationed at Fort Polk, LA.
Charles was a member of the Bordentown BPOE Elks Lodge #2085 and was a life member of the Hope Hose Humane Fire Co. No. 1 of Bordentown where he served as Captain of the ambulance squad, was a firefighter and was a member of the Bordentown Fire Police. Charles and Ann lived in Fort Mill, South Carolina prior to their current residence in Dallas, Georgia. Charles was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, SC and Acworth United Methodist Church in Acworth, GA. His favorite hobbies included fishing and woodworking. Charles would want to be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and as a man of faith, hard work and resilience.
A memorial service in celebration of Charles’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19th 2018 at Acworth United Methodist Church, 4340 Collins Circle, Acworth, GA 30101. A second service will be held at the
Hope Hose Humane Fire Co. No. 1, 150 W. Burlington St. Bordentown, NJ 08505
on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 7 p.m.
