Charles Scott Robertson of Marietta, GA passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the age of 75 following a short illness.
Born on Oct. 27, 1947, Mr. Robertson spent much of his life in his hometown of Albany. He is survived by his four children: Leigh (Kris) Nickens of Tampa, Fl; Lindsey (Thomas) Dale of Marietta, Ga; Garrett Robertson of Belleview, Fl; and Kasey Robertson of Claxton, Ga.
He was exceptionally proud of his children, and also took great pride in his service in the United States Navy. He served from 1964 to 1969 during the Vietnam War, and survived the fire on the USS Enterprise on Jan. 14, 1969 near Oahu, Hawaii, which claimed the lives of 28 of his fellow sailors.
Following his military service, he held a long career as a paramedic first responder, primarily serving Albany, Americus, and surrounding communities— more than 30 years in total. He spent his final years enjoying retirement, and especially time with his children.
He was a lifelong fan of Georgia sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He was thrilled to once again see the Braves win the World Series in 2021, and the back-to-back national championships of his beloved Georgia Bulldogs in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Mr. Robertson died peacefully at Wellstar Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain hospice, surrounded by loved ones.
A funeral will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the United Services Organization (USO) or the Wounded Warriors Project.
