Loving and devoted father of three Corey Mickelson’s love of life did not come to an end with his death. Corey passed away on February 18, 2021 at the age of 43 at home surrounded by his loving family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Born July 14, 1977, in Anoka, Minnesota, he moved to Snellville, Georgia at age 12.
He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Mickelson. Those left to cherish Corey’s memory are his beloved mother, Darlene Rainville (Step-father, Tom Scheffey); his three beautiful daughters, Ava Mickelson, Adriel Gardner, and Cirstin Mickelson; his wonderful brother Derek Mickelson (wife Delia and son Devan); and his loving girlfriend, Tish Bennett. His spirit will live on in his daughters and all those who love him.
He was a kind, caring, and compassionate person who did so much for those he loved as well as so many others. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Corey. His love for the game of softball allowed him to teach and coach his own girls and so many other girls who played under his direction. You could find him at the softball field most weekends. He loved spending time with his girls and family taking vacations and was just as happy at home on quiet evenings relaxing watching movies. Corey also enjoyed music and shared that love with his closest friends attending concerts. During football season, he cheered for the Florida Gators. Cooking was another one of his favorite things to do and he loved it most when he was cooking or grilling out for a large group of family along with friends at his home. Corey was a fun person to be around and anyone who knew him loved him.
At Corey’s request, there will be no public services. Private cremation arrangements were made. A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced by his family for a later date.
