Deborah "Debbie" Cavazos (Debbie Leonard) died peacefully while surrounded by her family at Kennestone Hospital on May 21st, 2019 in Marietta, Georgia at the age of 64.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Gilbert Cavazos; children, Brandon Cavazos, Brett Cavazos, and daughter-in-law Sara Cavazos. She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Beulah Leonard; granddaughter, Isabella Cavazos.
Debbie was born on October 18th, 1954 in Gadsden, Alabama to Chester and Beulah Leonard. She graduated from J.F. Drake State Community & Technical College in 1994 with a degree in Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She married Gilbert Cavazos, two years later after going on a blind date in 1983. After moving to Harvest, Alabama, Debbie Cavazos began working as a Nurse in a physician’s office. Over the years, the couple welcomed two children into their home. Her children remember her as a wonderful and loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and enjoy life to the fullest.
She was a caring individual who loved the water, working outside in the yard, and enjoyed the company of her family and friends whom she cared dearly for. She was passionate about her family and had a great love of animals. She especially loved annual beach trips with her best girlfriends.
A viewing is scheduled for May 26th, 2019 at Georgia Funeral Care in Acworth, Georgia from 1-3pm. Pastor Robert Ledbetter will officiate the funeral at 3pm.
