Dolores Janet Davis AKA Dolores D. Cannon was born on February 22, 1930 in Griffin, GA to Howard Davis and Nina Mae Wilson/Davis. She died on January 2, 2024.
She graduated from Griffin High School in 1947 and that summer went to France and stayed with her cousins in Paris. She graduated from West Georgia College in Carrollton, GA in 1949. She attended Patricia Stevens, Massey Business College and Georgia State University, focusing mainly on business courses.
From 1954 to 1967, Ms. Cannon was the Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager of the Athletic Department at Georgia Tech.
In 1962 she married Raleigh Cannon and they eventually built a home in Carrollton, GA. In 1972 the couple moved to Wilmington, NC where she was on the Figure Eight Island Historic Society.
The couple moved back to East Cobb, GA where they built a home in River Hill in 1973. The couple divorced in 1977 and while she was working as the manager of Summer Walk, she acquired her Georgia Real Estate License.
Eventually, she sold new office condominiums in The Medical Quarters. She helped specify, design and install professional office spaces for physicians and their staff.
In 1981 she bought a new townhouse in Salem Ridge and commuted to Nashville, TN in order to work for a physician who eventually married a man from Atlanta.
She returned to Atlanta where she became an agent for Buckhead Brokers selling residential property out of the Roswell office. She then went to REMAX on Sandy Springs Circle and sold residential properties all over the Atlanta Metro area in the 80's and 90's. She quickly became a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club as an ABR-Accredited Buyer Representative and Relocation Specialist. She was awarded the President's Award and the highly coveted Phoenix Award for twelve consecutive years.
Before retiring at age 75, she worked as the agent on duty at Ardsley Park Golf Club.
Ms. Cannon played ALTA Tennis, she sang A cappella, taught Bible School, she was an accomplished watercolorist, an avid cat rescue advocate, she loved to dance, garden and travel. Most of all she loved her friends.
She is survived by her only living half-brother, Anthony Flint Davis of Butler, GA.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in the chapel of Georgia Funeral Care, in Acworth, GA. The burial will take place the following day, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 2:00 PM, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Griffin, GA.
