Donald James Hess, 79 of Holly Springs, Ga passed away on March 17th, 2024.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 8, 1944, to the late Roman H. and Mary B. (Sprouse).
Don spent his High School and College years at the Josephinum Seminary where he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He continued at Ohio State University studying business. He then served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Vietnam. Don’s career was in purchasing and Inventory Management for 40 years.
Don will be greatly missed by his wife of 19 years, Susie and stepchildren Carolyn B. (Ken) Dodd and Connie S. (Jon) Gensemer and grandchildren, Kylie, Maddie, Chelsea and A. J. and also siblings, John Hess, David (Donna) Hess, Dianne Hess, Thomas (Gigi) Hess, Steve (Suzi) Hess, Mary Hess, Michael Hess and Paul (Jenny) Hess and sister-in-law, Joan Hess.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Joanne Weisenstein, Beverly Metzger, George Hess, Patricia Hess, and James O. Hess.
Don loved nature walks, his Golden Retrievers, boating, fishing, music, as well as playing the guitar and the piano. But most of all he loved his wife and family and spending time with his grandchildren, who dearly loved their “PAPA”.
Don can be best remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his passion to put others first. Celebration of Life to be held at 2 pm on April 20th,2024 at the Harmony on the Lakes Club House located at 297 Harmony Lake Drive Canton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund or The Lewy Body Dementia Association.
