Doris J. Wheeler (Muller) of Sandy Springs, Georgia passed away after a short illness on December 6, 2022, just two weeks after her 90th birthday. She was a strong, hard-working woman who experienced success in every endeavor. Having worked for Eleanor Roosevelt as a secretary for four years after high school graduation, to working with IBM for 30 years in several different roles, to delving deep into genealogy (including genetic genealogy) during the latter 30 years of her life, she was remarkable in every way. She was passionate about her work in genealogy so much so that she created the extensive website, https://doriswheeler.org, which has become a popular resource for other enthusiasts.
Moreso than anything else, Doris was passionate about her family who survive her...her daughter, Adria Griffin, grandchildren Cameron Griffin (Sai) and Courtney Griffin McAdams (Jake) and her precious great grandchildren, Sophia Griffin and Emma McAdams. Other surviving family include her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Charlie Luhmann, her brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Pam Muller and several nieces and nephews. As the matriarch of the family, Doris set the bar high as an exemplary model of mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is truly irreplaceable.
Doris is predeceased by her parents Theodore and Isabell Muller, her husband, Bill Wheeler, and sister and brother-in-law Diane and Harold Tompkins.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Sunday December 11, 2022 at Arlington Memorial Gardens/Sunrise Chapel Mausoleum in Sandy Springs, GA at 2:00 p.m.
