Edna Russell Black Britt (Mom, Grandma, Mema and Granny) passed away peacefully April 2, 2020 at the age of 93. Mrs. Britt born in Emerson GA in 1926 was a resident of Cartersville and formerly Atlanta but has spent her latter years at Ross Memorial in Kennesaw due to a prolong illness where she was much loved by the staff and other residents. Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Alice Crowe Russell of Cartersville, daughter Elaine Black Hammond, and beloved daughter-in-law Lynn Adams Black. She is survived by her sister Evelyn Russell Young, five children Russell Black (Kim) Pike Road AL, Roger Black (Kathy) Cartersville, Earline Black McDowell (Doug) Dunwoody, Ellen Black Miller Acworth, Rodney Black (Tamara) Wytheville VA, and numerous loving Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Britt loved people committing her life to one of service by working as a nurse at hospitals in Cartersville, Rome, and Atlanta. After her many years of healthcare, she operated a daycare service caring for children. Prior to her failing health, Mrs. Britt had been an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Acworth. In light of the outbreak of COVID-19, the family would like to have visitation and burial services reserved for immediate family and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
