Forrest F. Collins

Forrest F. Collins, 76, of Marietta, GA went to be with the Lord April 8, 2019 having battled Parkinson’s with Lewy Body Dementia. Born in Yale, Oklahoma, he was the son of Ira and Glenora “Granny” Collins. After graduating from Sprayberry High School, Forrest served in the Army where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifle, and Baisc Missleman Badge. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Forrest started his career at Southern Bell as a line man, retiring 30 years later as an IT/Communications Technician from BellSouth/AT&T. During his tenure, he made lifelong friends and was involved in more than a few legendary shenanigans with Nan. Forrest was a true man of God and his godly spirit shone through everything he did. He was the husband, father and friend that Christ calls for us all to be in order to be faithful servants of God: loyal, loving, patient, kind and sacrificing are just a few of his notable attributes. He became a Mason and was a member of Masonic Lodge #33, located in Marietta, GA for many years.

Forrest is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Ann Collins “the girl next door,” daughters Renee' Clark (Bob), Glenna Sikanowicz (Dave), grandchildren Drew and Emily Amandolia, his brother J.L. Davis, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Stephanie Collins, and brother Ira "T" Collins his mother Glenora Collins. Known for his quick wit, honesty, and being a committed husband, father, friend, and patriot, he enjoyed working on cars, was an avid camper, loved being outdoors from 70-72 degrees, and had a large and humorous collection of T-shirts and hats. He always made time to coach the girls' softball team, help someone with a "little project" and making people laugh.

Service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery, by Georgia Funeral Care, on April 17, 2019 at 2:00. Flowers accepted by Georgia Funeral Care on April 15 and 16.
