Georgia Funeral Care & Cremation Services and sister company Dream Land Pet Memorial Center, of Acworth, put out the word shortly after hurricane Harvey hit Houston, TX, that they were collecting needed donations for the people and pets of Houston. The American Red Cross was directing local Atlanta residents to contact Georgia Funeral Care & Dream Land Pet Memorial Center to get information on making donations. Owner Kevin R. Marcy states, "We quickly realized that our facilities were not going to be able to hold the multitudes of generous donations that were going to be delivered over the next 2 weeks. So I called upon my friend Terry Clark, of The Enclave at Hickory Grove, located at 4401 Baker Grove Rd, in Acworth, to help us store these donations in one of his new warehouse spaces. We nearly filled the entire warehouse and when The Red Cross picked up all the donations on the 15th of September, we did fill a 24 ft truck!". Many local residents, business owners, pet rescues, churches, and schools were among the many that donated needed toiletries, personal care products, water, clothing, dog & cat food, pet cages, cat litter, toys and much more.
