Glen D. Cook, age 71, passed away at Kennestone Hospital on December 8, 2020.
He was born in Sikeston, MO to Amzie and Goldie Cook on August 29, 1949. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, William “Lee” Cook and two sisters, Yvonne Stevens and Anna Baker.
Glen was a retired pipefitter, working at various petrochemical plants while he resided in Louisiana. He was a prolific storyteller, loved to make people laugh or just forget their troubles for a few moments. He never met a stranger. He had a big heart and an enduring zest for life. Glen loved to sing and many a resident at the complex where he lived caught him singing old gospel hymns. Although he suffered from a debilitating neuromuscular disease that eventually stole his ability to walk, he was upbeat and would say, “you can laugh about it or cry about it, and I choose to laugh.”
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Cook of Kennesaw, GA; brother, James Cook of Goose Creek, SC; sister, Retha Davidson of Fenton, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be planned at a future date for family and friends to celebrate his life.
