Helen Jean Thompson

Helen Jean Thompson age 78, of Acworth GA was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed on into glory to reside forever with our Heavenly Father early afternoon Saturday May 25th 2024, after succumbing to a lengthy illness.

Helen was preceded in death by her spouse Roger Lewis Thompson, and her parents Olan and Birdie May. Helen is survived by her daughter Tracie Leavell (Terry) her grandsons Joshua Leavell and Jacob Leavell, as well as her bonus children Roger “Junior” Thompson (Tinnia), Wanda Barnett, Beth (Danny) Eubanks and Charlie Thompson. Helen is also survived by her Brother Thomas Harold May “Smiley”, sisters Connie Sue Edwards, Cora Lynn Anderson (Charles) and Wilma Lea Cassey. She leaves behind several bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews which she prayed for daily.

Helen was a disciple of Jesus Christ. Her only mission in life was to lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. And she frequently befriended cashiers and store clerks and learned of their family circumstances and prayed for them.

Helen loved flowers and loved to work in her yard. She loved early spring when the azaleas and day lilies would bloom, and she could see the beautiful colors that God so graciously painted in her yard.

Helen enjoyed helping raise her grandsons and could often be found sitting on the swing on the front porch with them, where they would sing and giggle and explore. She loved all babies and would often get teary eyed when the St. Jude commercials came on the tv.

Helen’s family will receive friends Saturday June 8th 2024 at 11:00 AM with a celebration of life service immediately following at noon in the sanctuary of New Salem Baptist Church, Kennesaw, GA with Pastor Nick Pepper Officiating, Cheryl DeMenna Pianist, Marry Kinnaman Vocalist.
